There’s a certain slant of light Winter Afternoons – That oppresses, like the Heft Of Cathedral Tunes – Heavenly Hurt, it gives us – We can find no scar, But internal difference – Where the Meanings, are – None may teach it – Any – 'Tis the seal Despair – An imperial affliction Sent us of the Air – When it comes, the Landscape listens – Shadows – hold their breath – When it goes, 'tis like the Distance On the look of Death –

See the business man in his smart suit Standing there in army boots waiting for the call See me standing here with a gun in my ear Smiling, waiting for the hammer to fall Behind me there's a woman doing jigsaw dances As she downs another bottle of beer And though I'm still confused I think I might understand And all my feelings are beginning to clear We're moving on Moving up Moving out Once upon a time in a big house Now he's living like a mouse begging for his food Mickey mouse man doing singsong Dancing 'round in long johns singing in the mood Cut the middle man just to move ahead Sorry if he ends up dead, nothing I can do These things often happen, it's a matter of course Just be happy it was him and not you We're moving on Moving up Moving out When I sleep I'll be wandering Wandering… Technology made a fool out of me Robby robot ran away with my job I won't get it back, he's everything that I lack And he works for just a turn of a knob Now I sit home and pretend I'm alone As I watch the pictures flash on the screen I'm passively moved, I'm excited and soothed By the violent censored sex that I've seen We're moving on Moving up Moving out When I sleep I'll be wandering Wandering…

Just a glimpse From the outside One little glimpse And I know why Breaking through your lines Breaking through your lies Breaking through your tired eyes Innocence is over As colors to fade to grey A city stumbles into darkness… Empty streets, silent avenues In the shadowlands, sent to strike at you Eating flesh, drinking fear, pray for rain… Innocence is over As colors to fade away to grey A city stumbles into darkness As you fall into the fray A famous lie That everything will be alright soon After awhile I just get tired of rank-&-file fools All around me there are fools All around Cold hearted fools They strive for acceptance Never reading their books or seeing their teachers cries The streets have no name Only light poles and alleyways And their fitted with their leather chains Innocence is over As colors to fade away to grey A city stumbles into darkness As you fall into the fray A famous lie That everything will be alright soon After awhile I just get tired of rank-&-file fools All around me are fools All around me, there are fools all around

Years of sameness make us this way Taking the blame’s no longer ok Over and over some never stray Tortured and bland walk hand in hand Routines are alright – we all need some To never fight means everything’s right? Passive and willing – agree with everything Draw the line – develop a spine Static is monotony Static’s not the way to be Static says you’ll never change Static means you’ve got no range I stand in line for a long time Who says I have to – who made this rule? Speaking to myself isn’t going to help Do something dynamic – why withstand it? History repeats too frequently No one ever learns to react positively Whatever exists we all pay the fee Charging ahead regardless of need Static is monotony Static’s not the way to be Static says you’ll never change Static means you’ve got no range

Marooned on an island Darkened seas at my shore Alone on this no-land Chasing light forevermore My life a lie –an Illusion Spoon fed memories while I’m sleeping Wake to find them shattered, fleeting Lorelei is laughing In the echoes of this dream within a dream Panopticon’s prison Cages me no more Free to reason Fill the vacuum fear abhors I search alone, and the darkness Whispers of a long dead planet Of the home we lost to madness My fate to roam the galaxy But never kiss the Sun How many rivers will we have to cross Before we find our way? Please tell me, how many more? Killing each other In the labyrinth of hate The minotaur is lost Blood drunk we waltz On the tight rope of fate Fumbling with our fingers crossed Is it too late?

This is it, open your eyes All you can see, give yourself time Push yourself into my arms All you can be, mean you no harm Home. It’s where your broken heart is Innocence departed, fed by the fear

What can I say? What can I do for you? Some are here for but a moment Then are taken in an instant to eternity Remember life and what's been shared with you That you have shared It's funny how we feel closer With the ones that we love When they're farthest away You can feel them so near Just 'round the corner the memory still clear” Do not stand at my grave and cry I am not there I did not die." I say to you I will see you again On the other side someday "There's never endings only discovery, " I tell myself over and over again Some leave their mark in our hearts then go It's hard to continue onward When forever comes down it comes down so heavy Too final to forget You've got to believe there's something more After the song is over The dance goes on, so dance away When all is said and done Remember what's been given, not taken away But you struggle and you strain As the undertow pulls you down The years will spare the rod and soften the hardest blow ...but I am never the same With time comes a certain fading and erasing ...but I am never the same In each man There lies a start that has no end A means to be more A light that shines in its own special way Left with cold distance I'll always be with you We weather the cycle I'll always be there So fragile to balance Too potent to harness Life charges past the mortal in man Remember all the life you shared every day There's never any endings ...but I'll never be the same

about

In 2021, the progressive rock community lost Norm Nied. Known on both sides of the Atlantic as Uncle Norm, he was a dear friend, a champion of the music and a true mensch. All proceeds for this digital album are being donated by the artists to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to fund cancer research. It is an excellent way to discover a lot of music not available elsewhere AND support families who really "Nied" all the hep we can give them.
